The Number One building, in the Victoria Island area, Lagos, will see the former iconic IMB Plaza building transformed into an architectural masterpiece.The structure occupies a prominent location at the intersection of Ahmadu Bello Way and Akin Adesola Street and with its very distinctive form and striking blue glazing has long been a local landmark. In the immediate vicinity of the building Ahmadu Bello Way was, at the time of the Plaza’s construction in 1985, the coastal highway on the southern edge of Victoria Island running along Bar Beach; however, since then the Eko Atlantic land reclamation project has pushed the sea shore Southwards by just over a mile. The newly created land is divided-up as development plots and will alter the character of the immediate area quite considerably in the coming years.
